New Audi Q 5 2013

I know this is mainly an R8 forum but don't know where else to go

Anyone know whether it is possible to disable the function of the motor stopping when driver door is open.
Salesmen tells me that this is a new feature on the Q5, that when the driver door is opened, motor shuts off and needs to be restarted, even as the key is in the ignition.
Really frustrating...
Any help would be appreciated

Doesn't do it on my Q5 - maybe its a regional setting....
Tempted to trade mine in for the newer SQ5

Hmm... Haven't seen this on the Q5s that we have got in for 13. This is something that our cars with Auto-Start stop (A6, A7, A8). Does your Q5 have auto start/stop?

Yep has stop/start for about 4 or 5 years now.
Only works when you stop (when the car is warmed up) and you are out of gear without the clutch pressed or stopped with your foot on the brake with autos.

Button on centre console.

Not fitted to R8 as yet but I'm told the next version may end up with cylinder deactivation as well.

Yes there is a button but it disables the brake/start function which means that the motor does not shut off when you come to a light. This button allows to either use the brake/stop function or not.
However, it has nothing to do, though maybe related, with the fact that the motor shuts off when passenger door is opened, and needs to be restarted.
Salesman told me that you cannot disable this function

From what I understand, it may only be on the 6 cyl models and only for the 2013, as explained to me by salesman.
Unlike Europe where they have standard transmissions, in N America, we can only get automatic transmissions, and it works whenever coming to a stop or light and brake pedal is depressed, the motor shuts off, and as soon as you let go of the brakes, it starts automatically, which is efficient and works well

This function can be controlled by driver by an on/off button on car.
However, the function of the motor stopping when driver door is opened, is not optional. It always shuts motor whenever d. door is opened and needs restarting

Good question> Not sure as I have not real all the manual yet...but what is it supposed to do
