Yesterday i was at the lights, a NEW M3 pulls up, obvously on a test drive with the dealer ....typical knob driver starts reving wanting a race ...so i gave them one .

We Blew the beamer of the road ....easy 2 or car lenghts

i was so amused i slowed down to laugh at them and told them to go buy an AUDI .

And the salesman was probably pulling back on his throttle leg!
I am NO bimmer fan, (and if you gave me one, I'd sell it immediately--very bad ownership experience with that marque!), BUT, if you believe the published data so far, the new M3 v-8 coupe will edge you at the quarter mile drag strip (which is, of course, the only place you'd try this ).

The rate you are going Nile you will be the first R8 driver in Prison!

As he was "typical knob driver" - why did you have to race?

When confronted with that approach I actually slow down as I have nothing to prove.

I didn't know that this board consisted of little old ladies who pull their 2-wheeled shopping carts behind them. Let the man speak and share his experience!

Nile, I'm sure you exercised good judgement when deciding to race that blasphemous Bimmer. Although street racing is not encouraged on any forum, I'm sure that this extremely rare exception just had to be performed.

All I can say is...wish I was there!

Street racing - its still for kids as it always has been. It isn't always you that has the major accident but some dipstick who chases races you. Thats what trackdays are for and quiet motorways

I currently have a BMW MZ4 but have been pulled over to the Audi side. I love the BMW but ye, Audi is better.
As for the new M3, I really dont like it but you have to respect that it is a very capable machine! You were in a 2seater mid-engine, he was in a front engine 4 seater.
And as for blowing him away, its not so much showing off, its putting him in his place!

I thought your sister was in the A8 in the YouTube video. I am just concerned for you thats all.

My son spent sometime behind bars for such things and I am not one of the "little old ladies who pull their 2-wheeled shopping carts behind them"

    Just be careful please

this is kinda off topic but how does the R8 compare to the Z4M, I used to have an E46 M3 and I loved it but the R8 is just in a whole nother level, I was wondering if the Z4M can hang with the R8 in a race, I doubt it could on a road course but what about a quarter mile race?
