    Anyone from Holland?

I am looking at a possible next assignment in Holland, mid-09. Anything I should know about cars?

What happens if I send my r8 there? i've heard tax is exempted when i have owned it for 6 mths+.

when browsing around, I have noticed that Range Rovers are out of proportionally cheap. What cars are in the same price range as a Range Rover Vogue (4.2 supercharged)? seems like a good deal for me to buy one here and ship it over to the Netherlands.

houses generaly have garage? I've heard it is impossible in amsterdam but otherwise they have.
No more R8...Jing jing sold after a year with only 7000km. A people mover as replacement.

    Re: Anyone from Holland?

I used to live in The Netherlands.

Taxes on cars are very high. Off the top of my head the base price of the car is subject to a first tax (BPM) of 43.2% minus about EUR 1,400, and the total is then subject to a 19% VAT.

The yearly road tax is based on the weight of the car and is high also.

I believe that your information re a tax-free import are correct, but you may want to check specifications also or risk having to spend big bucks on arrival.

Large second-hand cars tend to be rather cheap. You can check some prices on www.marktplaats.nl and www.autoscout.nl for example.

Garages are rare and very small unless you are way outside the large cities. I used to have to fold the mirrors of my R8 to get through the door...

    I hope this helps.
