    Angry off topic discussions

Can we get all this off topic crap off this forum so all the R8 enthusiasts can read about what we are really interested in? Apart from anything else my young son loves this car and logs on occasionally. Perhaps one of the administrators could bar all of the pornposters?

Obviously Ekool and I cannot monitor the site 24/7/365, but we will delete anything that is inappropriate.

I have sent Ekool a message to see if there is something that can be done to tighten up the registration process, but with the ability of automated software, I don't know how easy it is to filter out the 'bogus' users.
    Gone but not forgotten ...
VW Golf V6 4motion (does just what it says on the tin)
Vauxhall Lotus Carlton (a beast of a motorway cruiser)
Honda NSX, manual JDM (a beauty to drive anywhere)
Audi RS4, B7 saloon (awesome on any road - or track)

    Thanks for trying.

No worries ... without regular users on the site ... it would soon become a quiet place to visit ... please stick with it if you can ... Ekool has said he'll look into things and see what he can do.

I'll continue to clear out any inappropriate threads as soon as I spot them.

Fingers crossed Ekool can find some way of making it harder ... if not impossible ... for automated software programs to register and post as easily as they seem able to do so at present.

If anyone knows of a way to stop automated software from registering and posting ... maybe you could share it here ... or in a PM to Ekool.

    Hello Paul-
First, thanks for the great site!
Second, do we (you) even need an off-topic section?
Establish a regular thread for 'all other vehicles' and ditch this one.....?
    Just a thought.......

    Re: off topic discussions

If there is not an off-topic discussion the bots will just post it in other sections. At least this makes it easier to delete them all at once

Sorry guys, not much we can do but delete them as we see them or you report them to us via the 'report a post' feature.

    Re: off topic discussions

Fergot to mention, I just added an additional "registration" question that I think the bots will be unable to answer so this should "help" a bit.

Again, sorry for the bad posts.

    Re: off topic discussions

Perhaps a few more of the regualr users could have the ability to delete the rogue posts? This will give more cover over time and not just rely on you and Paul to do the viewing 24/7/365.

Just an idea. I am sure that you by now know who you can trust !

Well, the only way to allow that would be to setup a site-wide moderator... we try to pick those very carefully. If someone wants to start a poll we can get an idea of who everyone thinks would make a good moderator.

Sorry to drag up an old thread, but if anybody does stumble across any offensive posts, then use the "report bad post" function, by clicking on the red "warning triangle" on the top bar of the relevent post. Providing the vBulletin has been set correctly, this "report bad post" should immediately alert all of the site Administrators and Moderators, so they are able to act ASAP.

vBulletin is one of the very best forum software packages, and has very powerfull, and customisable security options - and spammers really shouldn't be a problem.
