Well, imho, race cars have never looked as good since they became rolling billboards. But that's the price of getting ad money into the sport, so I won't complain too loudly. But it's hard to top the Ecurie Ecosse blue, especially on a D-Type:

I also think the old American national color scheme looked quite good on a whole bunch of cars, such as this classic Cunningham:

Anyway, Blue w. white stripes is the Scottish national livery (as opposed to White w. blue stripes for the US), and besides Ecurie Ecosse, Rob Walker used this livery and in an also very handsome variant: Midnight blue which I can't immediately find a good picture of, but seems I can't post a pic anyway, so oh well!

thanks for posting those pics; I DID try the direct link first, which is how I've always done it, and it didn't seem to work either?? Oh well, they're up there, point made. Direct link seems to work now (that is if there's a pic below!): this is the Rob Walker midnite blue w. white stripes....tends to look black in pics but if you saw it for real it's a deep, beautiful dark blue.
