My new daily driver Audi A1 S Line

Audi A1 S line 1.6TDI, Phantom black with black leather

Arrived at the dealership at 10.30am Sat, they had my car roped off with a black cover over it plus 3 other cars with white covers over, after breakfast there was a speech given on the A1 by the dealer principle, then after the obligatory paperwork and the small matter of handing over £21,135! i drove her home, about 15 miles.

A great little car, feels much bigger than it is, the stop start takes some getting used to! firm ride ( not as firm as my r8 but the 18" wheels on the A1 don’t help the ride ) good steering feel ( i was concerned over this due to the first drive press reports ) quality of finish is the same as the R8, first class, the technology in this little car is the same as the new A8 so a good insight into the future of Audis.

When i arrived home the Wife and kids came running out, they think it’s much nicer than my R8, not sure if i could agree totally with that! My Wife jumped in the car and drove off while i was looking the other way, the picture below is her speeding of, and without insurance cover I might add.

Off to Manchester China town today with the family ( about 90 miles each way ) so will get a better impression

Great little daily run around which according to the manual has a mid 80 mpg ability, getting it chipped next week so that will no doubt go out of the window but the extra 30 bhp will be appreciated as it’s not very quick, all in all a great little car that i can see will be fought over for daily use.

80MPG US or Imperial? Either way, good stuff. Nice to hear the tech is there, I thought Audi might go cheap on it since it's the lower end of the spectrum

    2010 Audi S5 (Silver)
    2011 Audi Q5 (Sexy Brown)

I love small sporty hatchbacks in busy cities. The car looks sweet. And with Audi's finish I'm sure you have a great city car that will park anywhere, and squeeze thru the tightest places effortlessly, all the while keeping you well planted in the seat of stylish luxury. And a car to park and walk away from without any worries. Quiet mind equals good living.

In the UK you do get the Ford Fiesta RS and the Renault Megane RS. Those would indeed make some difficult choices for me. But the Audi A1 S does look great.

The figs are Imperial MPG, they are listed as follows for the 1.6 TDI
( i slightly exaggerated the Urban fig which was from memory, just checked the book )

    Urban 60.1
    Extra Urban 78.5
    Combined 70.6

Yes, we get both those, they are good track day cars, there will be an S1 on the way which should be a little rocket, its great to have two very different Audis, each appreciated for its own function!
