How many R8 owners are also pilots?

I've met quite a few fellow R8 owners, and while all are piloti , quite a few are also pilots. Let's see a show of hands, and maybe we can get a percentage using the poll included with this post.

(I've been at home all week sick with a miserable, miserable holiday cold, with nothing to do other than squashing spammer-bugs when they show their faces on R8Talk. So I am bored to tears and hence looking for some entertainment! )

The summer out of high school I soloed at 14 hours, got a total 24 hours and never got past the film strip teaching sessions. Never finished...

Did a "discover flying" session about 6 years ago and, much to my surprise, was still able to take off and land the little 152.

I'm a private pilot, instrument rated in single and multiengine airplanes. I have been flying for business and pleasure for over thirty years. I took six years off when my children were born, but otherwise I've been an active pilot for that entire time. I've owned three airplanes: a Cessna 182Q, a Beech A36TC, and currently a Cessna 208B. I have around 3,000 hours of flight experience.

My favorite flying book (other than the commonly known classics) is Tony Kern's three volume set on aviation safety: Redefining Airmanship, Flight Discipline, and Darker Shades of Blue.

Someone once defined piloting an aircraft as many hours of boredom, punctuated by moments of sheer terror. I think that doesn't have to be true if one is prudent and exercises constant vigilance against human error, but flying can be extremely unforgiving of carelessness.

Does flying a motocross bike over a 100' double or out in the Dunes in So-Cal count as being a Pilot?

Wow desperado, here's me being in awe of the guy who just bought an LP670 and you have a million dollar+ plane . Congrats tho mate your living the dream. Hope to have a few flying lessons someday for now I'll make do with learning to drive my first supercar

Well, I'm a pilot, but not current. Owned a 77 Grumman T-Cat, a 79 Tiger and an R8 but they're all memories now!

Sorry, nooooo... (The 24 hours and solo certainly does, though.)

Mark, thank you. If it it makes you feel any better I am also in awe of the LP670-SV owner, what a fabulous automobile! The aircraft and it's operating expense is a business tool; the SuperVeloce is pure indulgence. I'm not sure my German heritage would let me be so .... "imaginative"! LOL

Lol it's more than indulgence but I would do exactly same if I had the means. How do you find being a piolet, sounds like an amazing job? I am in marketing not quite as exciting

I so have got to try that and the red bull rampage.

My record so far is 34ft gap and 20ft drop off but It on a downhill bike(push bike).
Not sure what I did on the Tissot jump at fort william seemed to last forever

I will own a LP670-SV before I'm 25. Its awesome, seen one in london was in love from that moment. I think I'm in the wrong job .


I'm going to start learning to fly a helicopter in the summer rather than plane as england is only tiny and you can land them any where (within reason).
