    Lambo?? Yes or No!

As some of you would know I am in the stages of finalizing my spec on my new order R8 Coupe.

In this process I have been looking at colors intensely,as my favorite R8 Color is Ibis White and I don't want to have 3 in a row.

So I inquired with Audi about a specific Lamborghini color for the R8(which they are now checking with Germany if possible).

And no.. its not orange or yellow!!

Well I made the mistake of going into a Lamborghini dealer last week to have a look at the color in person and as you do I got talking to the salesperson.

After talking for a while and a few phone calls from them I can get a 560-4 or 550-2 for around a extra 10% on the R8.

I have a choice of colors and transmission.

If I buy a R8 I will have to wait around 4 months but either Lambo model I can drive away tomorrow.

Which ever car I purchase it will be purely a weekend and track car and will never be used as a daily driver.

Warranty is the same as Audi apart from Race Track Use is specifically covered for the entire warranty period with Lamborghini.

Unbiased thoughts or comments would be much appreciated particularly from our regular forum members.

I am aware the Gallardo is due for replacement in about 2 years time but realistically I will probably be looking for a new toy by then.

I am also aware that the Lambo is harder edged and louder but ultimately that's what I would be doing to a new R8 coupe anyway.

As a weekend/track car I'd get the 550-2 in Lime Green

Go on, you know you have to do it!

If these 10% are less than what it would take to bring the R8 to 720HP, then go for it

Would be similar money spent..but no warranty here in Oz on the supercharger after 3 months, unlike the states.

Plus Audi would not want to know here if there was a problem.

I think you should pull the trigger because:
    • You won't use it everyday
    • You will be tracking the car
    • You have a big itch to buy the Lambo
    • You don't have to wait 4 months
    • You can get the color you want, and (most importantly) ...
    • You appear to flip cars frequently so there is no harm in trying something different
Lambo has some amazing colors (none very subtle though - but what about a Lambo is subtle? ). One of the members at my track has this Murcielago that has a pearl orange finish that is stunning:

'10 Audi R8 V10 (daytona gray pearl effect, CF sideblades, titanium finish wheels, STaSIS exhaust/ECU)
'12 Tesla Model S Signature Series (on order)
    '11 Cadillac Escalade ESV
    '06 Lexus RX 400h
    '03 Chevy Corvette 50th Anniversary
    '94 Dodge Viper
    '69 Chevy Camaro SS/RS

Do it. Your tendency to flip cars makes my habit to do the same, seem a bit more normal.

+1. What's the worst case scenario? You enjoy the Lambo for a little....realize you enjoyed the R8 more....and then come back to an R8 after you sell it.

My only concern of a Gallardo is that it is so small and tight on the inside. I don't mind low cars but once inside has to feel reasonable comfortable. The 458 is better on the inside.

The 458 Italia wins hands-down. If only my taxes were lower You don't have to worry too much about the colour either

I don't think much of Ferrari's, but this one is different, very refreshing inside out, all the latest bits, and with looks and performance to match. The Lambo's are just ... well, getting to be a bit of an old bull.
