Search Function - Really now? ...

Seriously, the search function on this forums is seriously useless. If I type in "oil change" in to the box that pulls down when I click on the search bar, the thread titled "oil change" is no where on the list.

Come on, I type in "Audi R8 Oil Change", hit "I'm feeling lucky" and it takes me right there. I've always found that it really can't find squat on these forums based on the most simple keyword searches.

Even if I ask it to search thread titles, and sort by relevancy, then the oil change thread still comes in at position 11 or so. Really.

LMAO!!!!! No wonder so many redundant questions come up. Those who use the search function (as I have) come up with zip. I had the same sentiments as you when I first used it.

the best way to search this site is to use google limiting it to this site eg:

site:r8talk.com "oil change"

http://www.google.com/search?q=+site...m+"oil+change"

that will search for the exact phrase "oil change" formatted with the space

randombloke: Thanks, that's a great way to have Google filter out all the other crap. Thanks for the tip. When I google pretty much anything for the R8, starting with Audi R8 and then whatever other key words I'm looking for, usually r8talk.com threads come up right on the top of the list anyway. Google's search functions definitely searches our forums much better than the built in search engine.

that will search for the exact phrase "oil change" formatted with the space

You can get the same result by simply using the Google search box provided by the site (the second one in the Search pull-down).
