I dont think R8Talk is ready for me.

I am a veteran of many internet BBs. I have been a fixture on many well known forums for years. But, I have also been permanantly banned from several as well. Mostly due to the fact that I have no filter. I say what I mean and I mean what I say. No sugar coating. Some people have a real issue with this no holds barred type of posting. So in order to "get along" here on R8TALK, I have spent the last few days reading and not posting. My assessment is that this site isnt ready for me ( or vise versa ). Smart assed comments or posts that call it what it really is seem to be frowned upon here. That is to say, the lack of such postings gives that impression.

I think the best thing for me in reguards to R8 talk are just to pretend my keyboard doesnt work. So keep doing what you do, and I'll keep my comments to myself.

    -Cheers

There are often disagreements here, but there is a general gravity towards keeping the talk about the cars and less about the posturing and personal bs that prevails on many other forums.

It just seems to have naturally gone that way - and I love it for that. It's far and away the best single make car forum I've come across.

The other thing I find refreshing here is the general lack of fanboyism - threads tend to be pretty even-handed about other makes and the failings of the r8 itself.

For the most part, if you have no filter and you are perceived as abrasive, then yes, I can understand that some people will not get along with you. I won't pontificate as to my opinions on individuals without filters.

Good luck participating in a manner that satisfies you and the rest of the citizens here.

Welcome P_S! And thanks guys; I couldn't have said it better myself. I think the operative word on R8Talk is class; it certainly describes the Audi R8 and is also a most appreciated attribute in our members!

That's what's great about R8Talk - our members do a pretty good job of setting a grown-up tone and new members just naturally follow the trend. Note that I didn't say Adult, as there are plenty of kids who are fans of the Audi R8 and we all need to remember they also read these pages!

If one is a positive contributor to the various conversations it's easy to get along here! It also helps to read and take to heart the FAQ and the links therein to the various rules postings and announcements.

Of course if someone's goal is to rile things up and generally NOT get along, then we do have a couple of fairly active moderators and the administrator who have no qualms about keeping the trolls at bay!
Welcome to R8Talk.com. Please be sure to read the FAQ: Audi R8 Introduction and Road Map to R8Talk.com!

lol. I'm not a troll. I AM a big kid, however.

I have done quite a bit of reading, there is some good information in these pages. But, there are also some things that leave me scratching my head thinking: "wtf did he just say?". Bottom line is, I have to really change my posting habits for this site, which means actually proof reading what goes on the page and not just letting my fingers do all the work.
