    Just saying HI

Just wanted to stop in and say HI.
I am currently rolling around the idea of picking up a used V8 R8 next summer. It is between the R8 and a 07 Z06, my delima is that I will be able to pay cash for the Corvette and no payments is always a good thing. The Audi I will have a loan for about 35k, which is not a big deal to me. It will be for my 30th birthday and will be not be a daily driver, I have 08 A4 for that job. I was dead set on the Z06 before I bought my A4 but the service and overall fit and finish of the Audi has sold me on the brand. Anyway I look forward to lurking around and learning as much as possible. here is a pic of my old car, it was a 06 DSOM Corvette with 436RWHP enjoy

    and my other toys

Welcome. Can't go wrong with either car. I love my r8 and it's my daily driver. Yesterday I went a rec center to register for this morning's 5K and people came up to me as I parked and asked about the car and took pics. While I was in line, several others came up to me and complimented me on the car. It's a great looking car, fun to drive, and there still aren't many on the road. If you can afford the extra, I think it's worth it.

The driving experience of the R8 will FAR exceed that of your Vette.

I'm sure the driving experience will be superbly better than the vette. Corvettes are just raw cheap power and are good on the track. The interior is cheap and lacks the general lay out of an expensive car. I wanted a gallardo but my driving habbits dictate I get something more road trip friendly as I like drive to Chicago which is 4.5 hrs away and stl that's 2 hrs away for weekend get aways. I feel the general maintenance and cost of ownership will be better than the lambo esp for my first real exotic. I've had a Porsche but don't feel that coubts as and "exotic".

The R8's a beautiful driver's car. You can sit it one all day long and not suffer from fatigue. I have very limited experience in a Vette (just as a passenger on Road America), but I can't believe that it would be as comfy as an R8 for a road trip.

Can't wait to try it out I'm sure it will blow the doors off the vette as far as owner experience. I am going to check a few out this weekend when I'm in Chicago. Not to buy (yet) but just to get an up close look and make sure they fit me.

Well over the weekend I was up in Chicago for some fun time and went to a couple dealerships in the area and checked out some R8's. Schaumburg Audi had a black 2009 with all the options I liked so I drove out to check it out in person. I have never seen one close up in person and I must say I fell in love. Looks great in pictures but in person it flows so well and is more low slung and wide than it looks. It was sold already but the salesman was nice enough to take me in the back and show it to me as it was the only coupe they had. I did get to sit in a 2011 Spyder and was very surprised at how comfortable it felt. Cant wait till I have one in the garage until then I am gonna hang out and learn all I can.
I have decided on manual, carbon blades, carbon interior accents, and I think the 4.2 will be more than adequate for me.

You should check out Continental Audi next time you are up this way. They usually have a couple of coupes (V8 and/or V10) in their inventory (new and/or used). I would be also happy to let you test drive my car if you are interested.

Thanks for the information, I will check them out when I am up that next. I check their website and they had a few used v8's and seemed decently reasonable on the price esp with a some negotion skills. I might take you up on your offer this spring or atleast do a ride along to see how they are first hand. I will be looking both private and dealership when I decide to buy. I am leaning towards buying used from a dealer just for the ease of transaction and finanacing.
