I wonder if this transmission will make it to USA models?

I've got a TTRS Stronic ... the stronic has been around for ages
but do you mean "new" for the US ? but then why would you wonder if it makes it to USA ?
Bwaa-ha-haYou get the 2.5 liter TFSI engine producing a whopping 340hp
Couldn't resist. :-)
Seriously though, I'd love this in my R8. Looks like they've still a long way to go with HP and Torque capacity, though :-(

Sure, it's a car that has some interesting quirks... I like our R8 and all, but after driving it on the track and really knowing what it can do at tracks like Mosport and Calabogie, I find it very dull to drive on the street. Any speeds or cornering on the street that stimulates any facial smiles towards a smile ends up likely getting me arrested for 'street racing' and impounds the car for a week and suspending my license for a month - no judge, no jury. This car is much more interesting for daily driving for sure, and you wouldn't have every other driver doing dumbarsed stuff around you (and not paying attention to their driving). I'd rock the TT-RS for a daily driver without hesitation. Commuter type driving in the R8 does absolutely nothing for me.
I agree. The R8 puts a MASSIVE smile on my face when I'm pushing it hard around a track and the car just all comes together! It's amazing how you can blast around the track with the Air Con, some soothing Classical music from B&O (ala Stig), belt out lap after lap and be competitive by staying in the Top 10 or 15. It such a balanced package on the ragged edge... no stress! It's all too easy.
But you're right, on the street, it just gets you in trouble...the TT-RS DSG would be a silent little pocket rocket for the streets!
