BTW, the Audi dealer today recommended using Plexus plastic polish to wax the film. Haven't tried it yet.
Nah, I already got one on the headlight - so annoyed, with only 80 miles on the odo! I'm going to keep driving to local roads only. I did get my windows tinted, so that's a nice mod for now.

    Re: Paint Protection Film

It took me almost 3 weeks to get my appointment with the clear bra guys at premier (www.premiermobilegroup.com) in Northern California. I would like to express my gratification for them in assisting me with my schedule as I am not the most flexible. I dropped off my car in the morning and met with Wilson who so kindly in great detail explained to me my options for my R8. While I was speaking with Wilson, someone had already called in a car from Hertz for me so that I didn't have to wait there the entire day. I chose to go with a full front so I did not see any lines, did the expensive carbon blades, and a few other nic nac areas. When I came to pick up my car, I really couldn't tell there is anything on my car. They put the edges underneath the trim and looked like bare paint to me. I also did not have to return my car to Hertz. They just took care of it for me and will get it delivered back to them! While I was there, two other customers of theirs came in to retrieve their cars. One was a Scuderia in white and the other was a black Challenge. I could tell all of them were exceptionally happy as I was. When I was leaving, a large transport arrived there to pick up a white Bentley GT, which was heading up to Canada. This company is first class and gets my humble 5 stars out of 5 for both customer service and quality of work. I would not hesitate to refer Premier to anyone looking for a clear bra on their car.

Would you mind sharing the cost to do this work on your R8?

I'll have to look at my receipt for the exact figures and right now the R8 is at the dealer due to a flat. I spent somewhere in the neighborhood of $3000, but I also bought hundreds of dollars worth of detailing products from them, so my guess is that my job cost me around $2000

    Re: Paint Protection Film

    Thanks.

Ouch! I spent US$588 with my local 3M installer to do 1/2 hood, all of the front bumper, license filler, headlights, and mirrors. Granted, you can see some edges if you look closely. BTW, the cars at Audi Forum Sonoma have 1/2 of the hood done, and their paint stays in excellent shape.

In 4,000 miles the only ding is on one of the parking sensors (they aren't covered). Several pretty good scuff marks on the film though where it's been struck by road debris so I'm glad I have it!

It certainly is well worth it. I've looked at other guys that did this and came up with some pretty piss poor results, but they did come out to be much cheaper. At least in the SF Bay, it seems like they are the best and their results show. I did get a lot more done than I was initially anticipating, so that did reflect in the price. I'll take pics and post em up as soon as all this fog rolls out. Now, the peace of mind of not worrying about the paint is well worth the cost and fortunately the quality is there. On to the next mods for this car - wheels!
