    Cleaning The Windshield

After 5+ months of ownership and many hand washings, I just this week discovered that I don't need to pop the boot lid so as to lift the wipers to get at the windscreen under them. So, for the benefit of slow learners like me and new owners, all you need to do is lift the wiper blade toward the top of the windscreen and they will move maybe 30 degrees and then you can lift them up and out of the way. Simply lay them down again and push them back to their resting position afterward. If it took me nearly half a year to figure this out I'm guessing it will come as a surprise to at least a few of you so I thought it worth sharing.

That would cause damage over time Use the windshield wiper lever RESET/ROCKER switches to set the wiper service position, as described in the Owner's Manual. However, the easiest method to clean and dry the area at the wiper park position is still to raise that front luggage lid (which invariably happens as you need to dry that water under the lid )

    Regards

I totally disagree. The wiper arms move freely to the so-called service position. I don't force it, it moves quite freely into that position and back to the park position. No resistance whatsoever, so how it will cause wear is beyond me. If by "easiest" you mean "hardest", then do it your way but now that I don't have to bother popping the lid every time I clean my windshield, I'm doing it this way from now on. Nowhere in the owner's manual does it warn not to do this. I don't clean my windshield only when I wash my car, I clean it almost every couple of days, but when I wash my car and pop the lids to dry under them, I don't need to move the wipers but that's only once a week or so. Chacun à son goût.

    Regards back at ya!

    Re: Cleaning The Windshield

The Audi wiper service position procedure is a bit inconvenient. Alternatively, we could switch-on the ignition, move the wipers ELECTRICALLY, switch-off the ignition when the wiper has moved a few inches, and you now have access to the park position.

Yes you are right. To each his/her own preference, whether it's right or wrong, and eventually, you will reap the result(s) of your own effort

    Regards.
