    Cleaning for the Navigation/Info Screen...

My wife made a fingerprint on the nav/info screen. I thought it would be easy to take care off so I lightly dampened a clean cloth with plain water and gently rubbed the screen. Now, it looks terrible. If anyone has found a product or a method to achieve a clear screen, please let me know. Thanks. By the way, I tried searching the related car detailing forum without success.

Thanks for the tip, David. I assume you've used this on the nav screen even though the screen isn't glass, correct?

I used the tiniest dab of it on a plush microfibre cloth. I too had a greasy fingerprint on the screen.

If you're not comfortable using something relatively unknown, Windex will probably do the trick (and yes, I have also used Windex, LOL).

Be very careful cleaning the screen, as the anti-glare coating will come off if you are not cleaning it with the utmost of care.

Since the Nav is screen is made of plastic I use a plastic polish-McGuires-the same stuff I use to clean helmut visors with. A soft glasses cleaning cloth works good. Just use a small amount of the polish for "as good as new " finish.

I have used this product by Lenspen to clean anti-glare coated LCD computer screens. The special carbon based wiping tool work pretty well and does not seem to damage the coating. Have not tried it on the R8 nav screen though.

The cleaning cautions are well warranted. I thought I was being careful, but at 30K miles much of the anti glare coating was gone, making the screen very difficult to see in bright light. My solution was to get the nav replaced by the dealer.

Re: Cleaning for the Navigation/Info Screen...

Thanks, folks. I tried an ever so slight amount of glass polish and made the screen worse. Then, I tried an alcohol and amonia free cleaner which, happily, didn't make things worse but, didn't make any improvement. Frankly, I'm gun-shy to try another solution unless someone has has first hand experience with a similar situation.
