Audi R8 V10 to set new Nurburgring record?

According to the Swedish magazine Auto Motor Sport, the future R8 V10 version will set a new Nurburgring lap record for production cars. The current one was claimed by the Corvette ZR1 with a time of under the 7:26. Next is the Nissan GT-R’s with 7:29 lap time.

The Audi R8 V10 will be unveiled this October at the Paris Auto Show. It will be powered by a 525bhp 5.2litre V10 engine. It will make the 0 to 60 mph sprint in less than 4.6 seconds and will top out at around 200mph.

I just read that on 6speed. We'll have to wait and see. That would seem far fetched given it's current numbers, but hey, if a heavy GT-R can do it, who knows.

i would hope that the v10 does better than 4.6 secs...this is pretty slow in today's standards.

A recent test by EVO had the V8 doing 0-60 in 4.1

I read in various places that tests pretty consistently showed 0-100 kmh in 4 seconds, but I don't remember seeing any sources.

Is there any truth in this ?

V8 factory spec is 4.6 sec, so V10 must be quicker !

I have got 4.4 sec myself on my R8 as measured by Performance VW magazine and I'm not a professional; I too have seen various magazines quoting 4.1 - 4.4 seconds and I think this is possible.

Audi seem to prefer underestimating performance figures - always a better idea than lying about it

They just made an error and used the old 0-60 times for the V8. NBD
