Report: ABT Unleashes 600hp Audi R8

Audi tuner ABT Sportsline has just unleashed a 600hp version of the V10-powered R8. The German tuner isn't saying much about how it got an extra 75hp from the 5.2-liter V10 engine, other than with the addition of an exhaust system.

We wouldn't doubt ABT though. This is, after all, the very same company behind last year's DTM Championship-winning A4.

In addition ABT used its motorsports know-how to design a new set of aerodynamic body panels for the R8, with a new front bumper, new side skirts and a rear diffuser with four integrated exhaust pipes. In addition there is also a new rear spoiler.

ABT claims its R8 can hit 62 mph in 3.8 seconds and blast on to a top speed of 201 mph!

Doesn't the R8 V10 have a 0-62 of 3.9?

An xtra 75hp for .1 sec faster?

Or am I wrong?

You're right Hovy, i was just thinking the V10 can do 0-60 in 3.5 seconds so the improvement isn't a 'wow really' kind of thing and being honest, not many people, if anyone has pushed their R8 to the top speed, so an extra 4 mph isn't really needed when you think about it

Yeah it is weird. I know that Audi's #s for the 0-60 is 3.9 and that some did it in 3.5 so I assume the ABT V10 should do it quicker than their stated 3.8

Thats probably right, we'll have to see what the price increase is over an orginal V10

I was hoping the V10 would do the 0-60 in 3.0.We're talking MPH right. NOT Klicks,(kilometers) like over across the pond. The extra weight of the 10 cyl.engine and all wheel drive does'nt help any. I am seriously willing to take the all wheel drive out like the Lambos do.And Nitrous of course. If Hovy changes his mind about upgrading , I might follow suit.
