Audi R8 May Receive Facelift Next Year

The Audi R8 is nearly five years old, which is amazing because the sports car still seems relatively new, however the first details are emerging regarding a facelift for the model.

The details regarding the possible facelift include a tweak in power. Sources suggest the 4.2-liter V8 will produce 444-hp up from 430-hp and the 5.2-liter V10 will produce 533-hp up from 525-hp. The R8 may also receive a seven-speed S-tronic transmission which would replace the current R-tronic unit.

Styling changes will include revised headlights, modest tweaks to the fascias and different rims.

Just like the Porsche 911 only received MINOR changes each year for many years. Allowing us to easily update to current year look and performance.Thats' the way I like it !! My R8 is 3 years old now, and still snapping necks like a newly released super-car.

Depending on the extent of the facelift you may be able to just modify your R8 to look like the facelifted version.

I think It's only going to be a subtle change in maybe the head lights or tail lights. I can't see them changing much at all. Why fix it if it ain't broken, as they say!

I feel the same way, but this isn't a new model, only a facelift and engine bump.

I ordered one to arrive this year and plan to keep it. If you want an idea, google the 2012 S5 facelift - they made changes to the headlights etc but the car looks very similar. R8 might change about the same...

yeah, people seem fixated on dual-clutch.

The level of hit would depend on how many used dual clutch r8's are available and the price compared to the used r-tronic's.

That is if audi is going to do a dual clutch in the r8 - I'm still unconvinced as it's hardly a volume seller to warrant the work necessary. I'm still in the camp of thinking this is auto-journalist mental masturbation of what they think will be coming down the pipe.
