    Sick Cars for Healthy Kids

    Hey everybody,

Thanks to Cayne, the intrepid Admin at R8talk.com, I've been permitted to post this thread about a charity program that I've put together to help raise funds for the new BC Children's Hospital here in Vancouver, BC. The funds are being raised via the sale of desktop 2012 calendars called "Sick Cars for Healthy Kids". I've been working on this idea since the summer and now it's coming to fruition. With the help of a number of photographers, graphic designers, web designers, very generous car owners, and a couple of strategic corporate sponsors, 3,000 of these calendars are currently being printed and will be ready for shipping later this week.

Here is a glimpse of what it will look like.

The cars that will grace the 12 months of this calendar are all local Vancouver cars, and include a Lexus LF-A, a Lamborghini Reventon, Murcielago SV, Ferrari 458, and more (not to mention my humble Audi R8). For a better look at all 12 months of the calendar, please visit www.sickcars.ca.

I'm currently working with the hospital's IT staff to add a link to the payment confirmation page so that online purchasers can also have access to all 12 months' photos which can be downloaded in a variety of sizes to be used as a computer desktop wallpaper.

The donation amount for one calendar is CAD$15.00 (tax included), and of course you can purchase more than one. A tax receipt will also be sent to your email address which will come in handy if your province/state allows for this type of deduction against taxable income.

Please note that none of the monies will pass through my hands. All donations go directly to the BC Children's Hospital Foundation (http://www.bcchf.ca/main/index.php), which has been helping families in our province for decades. These funds will go toward the construction of a new hospital with all new facilities, including an oncology centre in particular, which is what my targeted $50,000.00 in raised funds will be for.

If you have any questions about this, please do not hesitate to raise them. I am also happy to answer your enquiries by email if you prefer: david@sickcars.ca.

Thank you for your attention and your contribution to healthier kids all over British Columbia, Canada.

    Oh, golly gee...thanks!

Just doing my part for the community. And I can proudly say no exotic car was pulled over, impounded, forfeited to the Crown, or involved in a 14-car pile-up during the making of these calendars! LOL

    Thank you kindly.

Hmmm....this forum seems to have slowed down a touch since the re-design.

Agreed... although I think it was going through a slow down period just before that as well.

    Great initiative!
I would buy if you would send to Europe. :-D

In Sweden there is an event for something similar to the "make a wish foundation" where owners of supercars are invited to a track day with a bunch of children that suffer from different illnesses. The day is spent driving these kids around the track. Sounds like a really nice way of giving back, and I really hope to be able to attend in 2012.

I have seen pictures from past years; both the kids and the drivers seem to get alot out of an event like this!

Yes, we will mail the calendar anywhere! In a couple of days, there will be a box that you can tick on the payment form to select postal delivery (free of charge). But until then, if you just send me an email to "david@sickcars.ca" with the name you used for the donation, I'll make sure that the calendar(s) get sent to your designated address.

    Thank you!

On a related note, I too am setting up a "Hot Laps for Kids" event (once the weather warms up a bit), to ensure we raise the awareness level of the needs of British Columbian families.

Thanks for that. I guess you signed up just to bump the thread. That was very kind of you, even though I have no idea who you are!
