Custom Made Carbon Side Blades V8

Hi, I posted a message yesterday looking for a set of carbon side blades for my V8, after doing a bit of research today, I have found a company that makes carbon parts for the motor racing industry, they are willing to make carbon blades for me, they will use the standard ones that are on the car for the moulds, cost is coming in at approx. £1600 for the pair, this is well below Audi's price, and the manufacturer has said that they will indistinguishable from the OEM ones, if I can get a couple of other orders the price may drop a little.

Anyone else interested?

I've no doubt second hand ones are the same price, but it could be a long wait before a set come up on Ebay!

I bought a set for my V10 this summer. They are not OEM. The fittment is perfect. I would say that the lacquer finish is thin on mine and there is one place where the carbon weave is not perfect.
I may not be as picky as some folk.

My skeptical side says, how is this manufacturer going to make a set equal to or better than OEM, when they don't have one to compare. They need your blades to make a mould?

V8 blades do come up for sale here from to time, more so than the V10's; at least over the past year.

If you want a perfect OEM weave and finish, wait for one on this board. Unless the fabricators are giving you a deep discount in exchange for the mould, i go that route.

Nothing cheap will give you the same quality of finish and consistency of weave pattern as the genuine Audi carbon fibre blades.

Wait for some genuine blades to pop up on eBay - they always do at some point.

I know Richard Ho, the owner of R-Tuned. He does have original blades to compare with and he does not need your blades to mould from. His stuff is very good - about 95% OEM quality. PM me if you would like a more competitive price than the one you see on eBay - worldwide shipping available.

I have managed to get hold of a set of standard blades from a wrecked V8, these will be used for the moulds, the manufacturer uses the exact same injection process as Audi, he guarantees that there won't be any air bubbles and that you won't be able to tell any difference between them and the originals, I know that there aftermarket ones available in the US but import taxes are always added!

I will probably go ahead and order mine next week, as I said in my original post if there were a few people interested then the price could be a bit lower.
