Could you post a few photos of the R8, and do you have an asking price?
Working on a accessible pix file now, for both cars. Should be ready later this week.
Let Picasa fully load, otherwise the pix are grainy.

StuM, hate to derail this, but after seeing my first AM in person at the NY Auto Show, I've been considering one. Can you give any comparisons on the R8 vs AM? Performance? Maintenance?

2010 Audi S5 (Silver)
2011 Audi Q5 (Sexy Brown)
2012 Tesla Model S (Soon?)
Outsider, To compare the two, it's somewhat the old adage, "same, yet different". The Aston is much more of a true sports-touring car. It's actually quicker, in reality and seat of the pants, than the R8 V8. Quite unique in that the DBS can be a gentle joy around town, but will tear up the open road in a heartbeat. The 510 hp V12 rips and Oh, what a beautiful sound! While I really like the R8's exterior and interior style, fit and finish, the Aston has it beat in numerous areas. The Aston paint is the best I have ever experienced. Depth, quality, and color are truly world class. The interior is much more of the English touring style too. sporting enough, but for a broader appeal.
The R8 is the better overall handler, given the AWD and the R8 is really the better, core sports car. I suspect my ordered V10 R8 will bring the two even closer together in more ways. Neither has given me a lick of trouble and no warranty issues. Thus, I suspect overall maint and upkeep will be about the same over time. I had a prior 09 Vantage and that car did give me lots of trouble, so much so that I sold it for the the DBS.
I love both the R8 and DBS, but as my new V10 convt looms in production, I need to sell something to make space, so either or both of the current exotics will eventually go to new owners who can enjoy them.
I hope this helps a bit.
Re pricing for both, I will set the R8 at $118k (MSRP $139.7k) and the DBS at $194k. (MSRP $273.7)
Good hunting as you assess the options. Anyone may drop me a note or PM if you want to talk or share more info.
In the end, it comes down to you as a driver and how you plan to use any car. I've owned many dozens and continue to always seek the next " best" car. I suspect that may never really occur, as new units emerge over the years!
