    WTB: Steering wheel w/paddle shifters

Looking for an R8 stock steering wheel, must have shift paddles, so it needs to be out of an R-tronc car.

I'd steal the one out of my car, but it's a manual...

I'm planning on adapting this to my RS6; Finally got around to installing an RNS-E system in it and now I'm jonesing for the ability to control the system with my thumbs via the buttons on the wheel.

You get spoiled driving one car with bells and whistles that aren't in another. (R8 needs seat memory...) Now if I can figure out how to adapt auto headlights I'll be happy.

Re: WTB: Steering wheel w/paddle shifters

Oh you want an RS6 C6 or newer R8 V10 steering wheel, trust me on that. I'm surprised you haven't gone for one on your R8 project already. The RS6 and R8 V10 are quite a bit thicker and more contoured than the stock R8 steering wheel. If you don't mind the standard thickness wheel in the R8 I've also got a few package deals on TT S-Line, TTS and other specialty steering wheels which are the exact same thing as the R8 unit in terms of design. I can also fit up an RS6 badge as well!

As for making it functional with RNS-E... The RS6 has an older style slip ring and steering wheel controller. Have you seen someone successfully get an multi-function steering wheel to work with an RNS-E in an RS6 C5 yet?

Give me a buzz if you want a few pictures of the steering wheel packages I have and pricing.

    Cheers,
    Alexander van Gerbig

Re: WTB: Steering wheel w/paddle shifters

Thanks Rich, but I think I'll pass. No place for the buttons...

    ....

Alex - I actually prefer the V8 wheel's feel. The thicker wheels tend to wear my hands out more quickly.

I know that there are some C5's out there that have adapted wheels, but I'm not sure of the year models that were used. I'm just now starting my home work on this project.

    I appreciate the info.

Re: WTB: Steering wheel w/paddle shifters

Interesting on the C5 swap over. I've had some S8 D2 customers work on similar swaps without luck unfortunately. They however can use the earlier style multi-function wheels, but no luck on a flat bottom then. Sounds like you may be able to do something up. If you need wiring diagrams or a list of parts needed just let me know.

Not sure what color your interior is but I've got a silver unit on hand now from Quattro GmbH:

Also have some of these available:

TTS Smooth Black Leather, Double White Stitching, Alu Paddles

TT S-Line Black Partial Air Leather, Titan Grey Stitching, Black Paddles

Let me know if any of those perk your interest. Same steering wheel as the R8 just TT branded which can be changed.

    Cheers,

I beleive the steering wheel and shift assemblies are separate. I have a new stock teering wheel up in the attick. 0 (customer) miles on it.

Re: WTB: Steering wheel w/paddle shifters

You can order steering wheels with or without paddles. The steering wheels without paddles cannot have them retrofitted as the cutout for them is not present. The steering wheels ordered for paddles do indeed come with the paddles included and fitted. That works for all steering wheels Audi sells, round, flat bottom or otherwise.

You can add aluminum paddles to a steering wheel that has the black paddles however.

O.G.--- California talk for original. If you had the four rotors , new in their boxes I might consider. Pm me a cash offer. After my next track day 7-31 10 , I' ll know if I "REALLY NEED" the rotors. Carbotech pads better lower my lap times by 3 - 4 seconds or I will be a little peeved.
