    You should repost the poll in denominations of $10,000.
    I agree. I don't think the poll is realistic. I'm guessing it'll be around $25k difference which I'm willing to pay over a NEW R8 V8. But, if the economy and launch of the V10 does any harm to the prices of the existing, already owned, but barely used V8 cars, then I'm going after a used V8 car.

    My $.02

    $5,000 but then the V10 seems to come with a lot of V8 options as "standard" equipment.

    I just ordered a 2011 and didn't have to pay any premium. If you search you can find dealerships that never charge over MSRP. It was difficult finding an allocation but I was able to eventually find one for both a 2011 Spyder and coupe. Both dealerships did not charge over MSRP. In Ca, will not mention the dealership, they are charging a 30K premium. When I ask them why the said " is because the market could stand it". In my opinion charging over MSRP does not tend to build a long-term loyal customer because you always feel the dealership is gouging you. Since I am not being charged over MSRP I will more likely be loyal to that dealership and will make referrals whenever I can. In the long run the dealership that I orderd the R8 5.2 from will make more money. Its sad but we live in a greedy society that wants instant gratification. This is just my opinion.

    A couple of points: First, the way my dealer talked, the spyder is not going on the allocation system as in the past ie. the dealership that sells more gets more. He was telling me it's a first come first serve basis. The dealers that have verified orders entered into the system will get the cars as the orders are put in the system. Hence a starting date you could first enter orders in to the system. Second, the Motor Trend that came today quotes a price of 170K for the Spyder. That's up a wee bit from the price of a R8 5.2 coupe. Third, I thought that an Audi dealership wasn't supposed to sell above MSRP. I know that to get around that, North Scottsdale Audi sells their new R8's to a broker who then sells them for 20 to 30K above MSRP on their showroom floor. And IMHO I agree, I wouldn't show any dealership loyalty to someone who would gouge me on the sale.

    Well said Roy, your right on all that, Audi frown on premiums in the UK and try to make sure speculators do not get their hands on new cars for this purpose, although it it’s very hard to police.

    We have a dealer in the UK ( not Audi franchise ) who has obviously got a customer’s order slot and are openly advertising it in the Sunday Times and on the internet at a £15,000 premium, the car is already in physical stock, i enquired about this car out of interest and this was the reply;

    That is one nice looking car! That's still a huge mark up, with all the talk of limiting production and so on, when I get one I will hold on to it!

    Audi don't seem to have any such qualms in Australia on their own account, the V10 manual Spyder is $A275,000 (GBP 162k, USD 240k) before you add A$100k in government taxes (made worse because they are a % of Audi's price), then the dealer adds A$10k in dealer delivery charge, which is one expensive car wash!

    At least that means Audi make so much profit here the cars are easy to come by, with most dealers having an R8 of some description sitting in their showroom.
