Since there has been some discussion about paint codes, I wanted to start a short list of the colors that are available for the R8.

Standard Colors - Ordering codes are in ()
LX5W - Jet Blue Metallic (1Y/1Y)
LX7W - Ice Silver metallic (P5/P5)
LY3J - Brilliant Red (C8/C8)
LY9C - Ibis White (T9/T9)
LZ3F - Garnet Red metallic ('09 only)
LZ5E - Mugello Blue pearl
LZ7L - Lava Grey pearl (1R/1R)
LZ7S - Daytona Grey (6Y/6Y)
LZ9Y - Phantom Black pearl (L8/L8)
xxxx - Sepang Blue pearl (E9/E9)

xxxx - Classic Red pearl

Audi Exclusive Sideblade Colors
xxxx - Quartz Silver (default)
xxxx - Magnolia White (paired w/saddle brown)

For completeness, do you also have the paint codes for stock sideblade colors, such as Oxygen Silver, Night Blue, etc.? (recited from memory, pls excuse any slip-ups)

Now what I want to find is Velvet Purple... which I think is absurd that Audi won't release the paint code... As I would like to buy some of the paint and spray it out on a large sample board to see if I truly like it before ordering an R8.
