    New Product: PPI Roll Hoop!

    Hello R8 enthusiasts!

If you are regularly heading to the track or like to make sure you're safe carving the canyons, this new roll hoop from PPI is just the ticket.

Made here in the US, it is a four-point system that mounts to the floor at the base of the rear quarter panel and through the rear firewall. Very strong and very good looking!

Price for the crossbar is $3k and we can provide track harnesses upon request.

You could probably get a standard set in there. Haven't tried.

I will soon try my hand at welding an aluminium version of that bar/cage/belt mount (maybe), and cover in cf wrap. Good looking out SDR8.

Aluminum would be nice, but I bet a strong one would impare vision and rear space a bit more. How much does the PPI version weigh? I am mostly interested in it for the harness mount so perhaps you have a harness mount setup that is lighter?

We don't know of an alternate mount for harnesses, but have been talking with desperado about building one. I expect the weight will be in the 40-50 lbs range...

Re: New Product: PPI Roll Hoop!

After studying the Mega-Factories video and looking at the rear firewall of the car, I'm not so sure anymore that supporting a harness bar solely from the firewall is a very good idea. The B-pillars appear to be SO much stronger than the box-beam that runs between them below the rear window. The stock 3-point shoulder harness is anchored to the B-pillar, and that is clearly the strongest point in the car.

So we mount a bar from those upper seat belt bolts. Then we need to design a replacement seat belt retractor area cover- cf . So the car can be returned to normal if wanted. Sort of a hoop that runs from sealt belt mounts.
