    Re: GMG Shop Visit

R8Talkers MNGolfer, Harrison, Merrill and Mr. & Mrs. Desperado spent a couple of very pleasant and informative hours today at Global Motorsport Group. Our host Fabryce was incredibly gracious and showed us all around their very impressive facility, and he was extremely patient in answering all of our questions. We owe him a huge R8Talk THANK YOU! We were joined on the tour by Andy(?) whose beautiful Gallardo was in their shop getting new rubber installed.

While it appears the majority of the current projects at GMG Racing revolve around designing, building, and supporting Porsche race cars for various teams running in all the major road racing series, it turns out that Fabryce is a huge Audi fan with extensive experience with the marque clear back to the early coupe quattros. His daily driver S4 was the first thing we saw even before entering the facility. Fabryce showed us two unique Audi project cars in the shop; one was a completed engine transplant project on an A4 Avant making it into an S4 Avant (the black car in the video posted on 2/20), and the other was a restoration/update in progress on an older Audi racing coupe (the adjacent race car with the red rear end in the video posted on 2/20). Plus there is an impressive array of customer Audi photos on their website.

Suffice it to say that GMG "gets it" when it comes to Audi and the unique place they hold in the motorsports world.

I didn't take nearly enough photos. Hopefully some of the other guys can add a few.

Here are a few photos of the Twin Turbo V10 development project which GMG is pursuing. (Click on the photos for the full size image.)

The development car. Note the wheels. They are GMG's own custom billet wheels for the R8.

    Re: GMG Shop Visit

Here are two copies of the GMG stainless steel exhaust for the R8. It is available in separate versions tuned specifically for the V10 or the V8. The claimed weight is 17 pounds(!) and you only have to lift one to be a believer!
The workmanship is excellent, and the materials and processes are all top quality.
We weren't able to hear these on a R8, but the sound is said to be F1-ish and we were assured there is absolutely no drone at all.

    Re: GMG Shop Visit

Besides the exhaust, the wheels, and the future twin turbo, GMG also produces their own high performance suspension parts for the R8. These include custom springs, lighter/stiffer/adjustable front and rear anti-roll bars, and suspension arms with stiffer bushings.

There was so much to see and absorb at GMG that I'm sure I may have described some things incorrectly, or forgotten to mention important items. Hopefully the other guys or Fabryce will chime in here and correct my errors and flush out this report.

    Re: GMG Shop Visit

Great stuff! Thank you for sharing. Fabryce and GMG are very well known in the Porsche world for their super high quality. I remember talking to him a couple of years ago about fabricating some new suspension parts for the R8. That was during the development of the R8 supercharger. He was full of ideas, but had no R8 at the time. Unfortunately, I never got back to him. It looks like he do it!

    BRAVO, Fabryce!

High quality is an understatement. Some of the Porsche race cars were still virgins awaiting even more mods before hitting the circuits. Good luck finding a scratch or even fingerprints on any of the projects. My Audi Certified R8 Tech equipped dealer is === WEAK SAUCE compared to these guys.
