Along with the amazing fade resistance the rotors shed over 50% of the weight of stock rotors on an R8 and the service life in some cases is 10x that of conventional R8 rotors. The reduced unsprung weight of the entire system provides a quickness to the steering feel and helps to reduce the pendulum effect on the suspension that high unsprung weight can cause because of heavy brake components. The carbon ceramic rotors are matched with proper pads for ideal operation on the street as well as the track, these do not need to be heated up for regular street use. With a 380mm disc and a rather large caliper exceptionally unlikely an 18" wheel will fit. It's a stretch to get an 18" wheel over the STaSIS 370mm kits and the Alcon Mono6 caliper is quite trim comparatively.

I am glad that you are enjoying the brakes and your monster R8tt! I'd love to see a few more NA owners running with these and I know we've been prompted that we will get them in the NA market. The odd thing is that of all the parts being added to the parts catalog recently the ceramic brake parts are still not listed for any model in the US yet...

I have been asked by several R8 owners if the ceramic brakes will be coming to the US in the next model year, however I still do NOT see these in the parts catalog. Neither the standard or GT (Red) ceramic systems appear to be showing up even though they should be by this point.
