Rear hatch glass is interesting.... I would think there is some major weight saving...

More pricing is coming out! The R8 GT spoiler is now priced and other parts will be coming up shortly as well. The first lot of GT steering wheels that had been ordered just shipped to this location from Europe yesterday as well. One of the items everyone has been waiting on:



R8 GT Matte Carbon Fiber Spoiler Package - $6599.00 each

There is an upper portion to the bumper just behind the hatch which is where the spoiler will bolt to and eliminate the stock electronic spoiler. This has yet to be priced, but I am going to recommend that people looking at the GT spoiler look to use this part unless they want to do custom work for fitment.

I'm with Bz888 on the GT hatch glass. Alex, maybe find the items that will offer the most significant weight lose? I understand that most people here are interested in aesthetics for the R8,.. but a few of us are a bit more focused on the most reasonable ways to reduce the car's weight. ( And yes,.. I do understand all about the benefits of the ceramic brake kits.)

The glass will require a complete rear hatch, which is yet to be priced so I have yet to put this information up. People are here for all types of reasons and I am happy to cater to everyone's needs as best I can. I do have to wait for items to have prices attached to get info out and I am waiting impatiently for all the pricing to come out.

FYI, the R8 GT rear glass alone without the hatch and other associated parts you will need for this conversion is going to be around $7500 alone. The partition in the R8 GT will be around $3300.

As the items that are needed to fit the rear hatch comes up with pricing that will be added to the website and items that have a fair number of requests for pricing will come up here, hence the spoiler pricing which is something many have asked for pricing on.

If you want some ceramic brakes I have some for you on special right now. Did you know the discs are considerably lighter than your steel counterparts?

But what are the real weight savings with the GT rear hatch and the glass partitions?

From what I have seen published:

• Carbon fiber reinforced plastic hatch (CFRP) is ~14lbs
• Thinner windshield, polycarbonate glass partition and hatch glass save nearly ~20lbs
  
• Removal of electronic spoiler and fitment of GT spoiler saves ~2.6lbs
• Body panels, luggage hatch saves ~5.7lbs
• Rear bumper made from CFRP saves ~11.4lbs
• Sideblades made from CFRP save ~3.3lbs
• Battery saves ~20.7lbs
• Engine compartment insulation removal saves ~6.1lbs
  
• Lightweight carpeting saves ~17.4lbs
• Lightweight racing seats save ~70lbs

Those ceramic brakes I love talk about save a sizable and noticeable ~10lbs of rotating mass per front disc and ~8lbs of rotating mass per rear disc, but the front ceramic caliper is a tad portlier at ~2lbs heavier and the rear calipers are the same weight.

Hopefully that helps sort out some of the weight savings benefits from a few of the R8 GT parts for you and others.

First GT parts arrived yesterday. The R8 GT steering wheel in alcantara sure is nice...
