Completely different steering wheel - you cannot add paddles onto a manual steering wheel

I can also get one with the 2013 extended and illuminated paddles

Question for you:

I see a lot of different sized steering wheels for sale. Some are even more chunky than this. Audi supplies us with the thin wheel, but where do these chunky ones come from? Are they modified and build up before the leather or CF goes back on?

When ordering you can upgrade to this wheel for $250. It's a shame Audi still has that crappy thin wheel and doubt anyone would order with it, unless maybe they already had an aftermarket in mind. Probably most cars that have the crappy wheel were ordered on spec by dealer. Then when customer buys they are stuck paying $1k+ to upgrade, but still worth it.

This is as chunky as Audi do.
If you have seen chunkier genuine Audi wheel - then it is down to photography angle, lighting and colour of the leather.

Chunky wheels generally have to be ordered with the car. This is why you see many wheels floating around in a variety of stitching colours.

There are many aftermarket companies that make even thicker wheels.
The process is usually to take off the top leather and then build onto the synthetic core using carbon fibre, high density packing and leather.
The core can be added onto to give a thicker profile or to sculpture thumbholds etc.

Big improvement over the original skinny wheel. R-Tronic version has a nice silver paddle with red LED - + paddle indicators

This is NOT the wheel that I am selling.
This photo is of a 2007 - 2012 steering wheel with the old paddles.
My R-Tronic version is with the NEW paddles.
