Winter Traction

I have a new rear set of Dunlops this season as the previous rears were done. Just about every time I feel a slip I could swear the traction is worse than I ever felt it previously with my previous set of Dunlops.

Could they have changed rubber compounds?

Ah, so your new Dunlops aren't what the last set was... I wonder if they did change something. I decided to give them a try because I'd seen quite a few good reviews about them here on the forum.

I was totally happy with them the previous two winters on the car but now I'm not so sure anymore... I guess I'll have a better opinion in a few months.

another vote for sottozero serie ii there seem pretty good in the snow even on a RWD car. R8s are pretty good in the snow even with the tyres it came with.

How about in the rain? Running the OEM P-Zeros now, seem decent in the rain. Never snows in the SF Bay Area and rarely gets below 45.

The OEM P-Z are decent in the not-too cold rain we get here, as long as there is not too much water on road. On 50% worn P-Zero in heavy rain, the R8 started to hydroplane past ~60 mph. Last time I got caught in these conditions, I moved to the right lane and let all the Priuses pass me.
