Looking for 18" Wheel Options for Audi R8

This is a cross post from the Audizine site. I've been looking for 18" wheel options for the R8. I believe it is the base wheel on the European delivery cars & maybe else where in the world, is 18" wheel that come s in three flavors:

    420-601-025 8.5J x 18 ET42 5x112 Price in June08 @ $743
    420-601-025A 10.5J x 18 ET50 ditto same $743
    420-601-025D 10.5J x 18 ET55 " (winter tires) same $743

Last June I was quoted US Dealer MSRP for the 18" wheels, if they could be procured (my dealer wasn't sure, and the parts guy had stories of past difficulties in getting what he refered to as European model parts shipped to him in the US) @ $743 each for the wheels alone, both front and rear.

FWIW, I was also quoted $964 each for Audi OEM US 19" R8 wheel, plus there would be additional costs for TPMS and wheel caps (@ $30 each) as well.

In any event, I'm looking for at least one set, maybe 2 of some kind of strong 18" wheels for the R8. In addition to possible winter, or at least all season tire use, it's possible the wheels could be used with a set of either Michelin Cup, Pirelli Corso or Toyo RA1 or Nitto track tires for HPDE purposes.

Anyone have any leads or suggestions?

Does anyone know if there's any wheel fitment cross over between the R8 and say the RS4 or S5 family?

    Thanks for any suggestions, mike

Re: Looking for 18" Wheel Options for Audi R8

FWIW: my dealer quoted me $6000 for a "winter" tire/wheel pckg. for the R8 using Dunlop wintersports and an 18" wheel which, from a poor quality picture, looked like the 6 spoke Audi 18" Euro std. wheel; that would seem to mean that they're getting well over $1000/wheel (admittedly, there's something in there for tpms and mounting) for those wheels!

that sounds high compared to the $700-$800 range I've heard quoted on here for that wheel before

what are you guys hearing price wise for those 18" Audi wheels these days?

Tire Rack has an outstanding price (<$450) on that OZ Ultraleggera wheel, which is supposed to be made with a new casting process that makes it competitive strength/weight-wise with forged; but they're 19"s

for a winter tire, I would prefer a "minus 1" approach with 18"s to get a tire less likely to hydroplane in slush and heavy rain

anybody got a any bright ideas? or just "lay it up" for winter? (NOT my plan)

Send a PM to mothertucker. He drives his R8 all winter and he is located in Idaho.

I believe you meant TOECUTTER, not MT - he's in the South.
