    Re: 265 on the front??

    Harrison:
    I'm certains SOMEONE posted on here that they were running 265s on the front....was in along with a discussion of under/over steering in the R8 and I THINK it was one of the guys who was tracking his car A LOT.

    Did you try text searching posts on "265"? If that doesn't work, look around at early threads about tracking the R8....like 18 mo to 2 yrs. ago. But I'm quite sure I remember SOMEONE did it.

    As far as "on stock wheels," off the top of my head 265mm (10.4") sounds like a little too much tread (almost 2" wider) for an 8.5" wheel. But you should consult one of those technical tire/wheel web site calculators to see if 265 is an allowable, safe fit on an 8.5" wheel. Even if it is allowable, I would think, handling wise you'd do better with a wider wheel.

    Harry...

    I've looked into it and the front rim is not wide enough to handle it. For a 265 you'd need a 9-9.5" rim minimum.

    Re: 265 on the front??

    Well I haven't "looked into it" beyond my favorite tire and wheel website, and 08R8 might be entirely correct about what a knowledgeable performance tire guy would say.....,

    BUT, FWIW, the "rimsntires" website calculator says 265/30-19 tires are OK on 19" rims from 8.0 to 10.0" wide. (see data panel below the adjustable diagrams) You do have to go to 30 aspect ratio, but that gives you a pretty close size match with the circumference only 0.5" less than stock and the speedo only reading 0.7% fast

    also the radial clearance is better than stock and the inside/outside clearance (inboard intrusion toward suspension/outboard toward fender...from hub plane) is only 15mm (0.6") greater than the stock tire on either side.

    So in other words, at least "rimsntires" thinks it's an OK fit on a 8.5x19! beyond that you'd have to verify that the R8 can handle 15mm wider from centerline and in fact clear the susp. and fenders;

    This gadget is one of my favorite tools for analysing wheel and tire specs....it's really handy!
    http://www.rimsntires.com/specs.jsp
    plug stock spec into the left side (235/35-19;8.5x19+42offset) and your proposed changes into the right side and see the diff. graphically & specs. below

    Re: 265 on the front??

    My concern was with rubbing on inside of wheel/tires. Since I have 10 mm spacers this might help with no rubbing on components inside wheel wells. The 265 rim size is recomended to be 9-10 inch. I'll contact Hoosier and see if it would be O.K. to run the 265 on a 8.5 inch wheel.

    so with 10mm spacers your only 5mm closer to inside stuff but 25mm (1") closer the fenders!! Might have to add some sexy flares there Harry!

    you will see on that web site that they say 8.0 to 10.0 for 265s, but the individual tire maker might not agree with that

    No sexy flairs here. But maybe some modified Honda S2000 CF bumper winglets,(instead of a splitter, like the R8GT).
