Lightweight Track Wheels?

Recently started track days with my R8 v10 (which is amazing on track) and want to run with Hoosier slicks. Does anyone have any recommendations for lightweight wheels that are good for a second set? Plan to go to Watkins glen Tuesday. Want to see if i can get a set before then? anyone?

HRE makes beautiful, high quality, light-weight wheels, but they are pricey.

The factory split 5-spoke (V8) wheels are very light and forged. You can find them for 2500 +/- a set. We've got some here in fact...

Just a personal impression FWIW, I don't think Audi cut any corners on its OEM wheels - as long as you are happy with using 19" tires & wheels (I'd prefer 18" wheels personally if I could find a good set), the OEM product is hard to beat. 18" wheels, just in general, all other things (type of wheel construction) being equal would normally be several pounds lighter than their 19 or 20" counterparts.

I think the OEM wheels are light for their size, and in my limited experience (hit a large rock from a freeze/thaw rock slide going over Rabbit Ears Pass last winter that destroyed the tire, no damage to the wheel) very strong.

With the power and cornering speeds the R8 is capable of generating, particularly if you put sticky rubber on them, I wouldn't want to discover I'd found a great looking "light" but weak wheel for the car. Cheers

You can get the ADV 10.1 made in 18" sizes for the R8. Excellent track wheels.

Bodii, do you know if the ADV 10.1 18" wheels will fit over the larger brake discs, such as the Brembo or the STāSIS/Alcon? I upgraded to the Brembo which involves spacing the caliper radially outwards by 7.5mm. (i.e., 380mm - 365mm = 15mm on the diameter, or 7.5 mm on the radius.)

I agree with you on the 19" OZ Ultrleggera HLT, I also have a set of these and I find them excellent, strong, and very light, as well as a great look on the R8.
