Took a chunk out of my rim/tire.

I think I rubbed the rim against the rocks around my driveway reversing out of the garage. I was really surprised when I saw the damage. It took a chunk out of the rim and the tire and scraped the rest of the rim pretty badly. Anyone know what options I might have with this? Thanks for your help. Pretty bummed out.

Not worth getting bummed about, worse case is you buy a new wheel and tire. Much better than some type of damage to body. Maybe use as excuse to do wheel mod?

There's an outfit that has advertised in the back of car magazines for as long as I can remember which uses the tag line, "You bend 'em - we mend 'em". You'd have to ship them your wheel but I wouldn't be surprised if you can find a local place that can fix your wheel. But your tire is hopeless and must be replaced. .

If you track your car, it might not be safe to repair the wheel. Cosmetically it may look good after repair but the integrity may be compromised. If it was my car, I'd get a new wheel.

I've seen rims in much worse conditions being repaired to perfection. What maegeri said is right if you track your car or like to drive it hard just get a new rim and new rubber.

If you just use this as a normal daily driver you can get it fixed. Although who knows maybe you can find a single wheel on ebay matching your needs costing nearly nothing.

YOUCHH !! That is one heck of an auwie. You would think a supercar wheel would be a LITTLE stronger. IS THE WHEEL ACTUALLY FORGED ?? Seems to have casted qualities to me. I met another R8 owner who hit a rock and destroyed his wheel.I cracked a rear wheel at the track. Audi only reimbursed me 1/2 the cost, stating I MAY have weakened the wheel in the Smoke chroming process...RUBBISH. Just take a look at the wheels on the R8GT posted recently...An early style wheel modified to 20 spokes. What a strong looking wheel. This photo courtesy GAZZA1

There is a local place here in Northern California a few miles from me called Wheel Techniques. They have a very good reputation for repairing wheels, from what I have heard.

I'm not sure how much it would cost. You may want to just find out how much the OEM wheels is, as I was told it is not too expensive, especially considering it is forged.

I had a wheel repaired on my A8L in MN. The cost was ~$360 just to remove curb scruff. I think a new wheel is ~$1000, but that is a guess.

I think Forged is a stronger more expensive wheel than a cast wheel.Could be wrong tho.
