This quote amuses me.positioning it squarely against the BMW M6."
The M6 produces almost that much horsepower while running in slow 8-cylinder mode. When the M6's V10 engine is running fully powered it produces 500HP. Heck, the 8-cylinder engine that's supposed to go into the lowly M3 will produce 400HP.
This is hardly an M6 competitor. The fact that it's priced similarly only indicates that it's overpriced.
Gone but not forgotten ...
VW Golf V6 4motion (does just what it says on the tin)
Vauxhall Lotus Carlton (a beast of a motorway cruiser)
Honda NSX, manual JDM (a beauty to drive anywhere)
Audi RS4, B7 saloon (awesome on any road - or track)
This guy needs to team up with titanz - both seem to have a different take on reality. Lets start comparing like with like as opposed to two of the most ugly cars on the road against the R8.
Indeed ... how about comparing the R8 to ... two seater cars with between 400-450bhp in the engine bay ... or at least cars close to those figures with two seats ... at least keep comparisons to cars that have two seats and are withing +/-50bhp ... which at least would be realistic ... or if the engine bay power is not within 50bhp of the R8 ... try and pick a two seater car where the power to weight ratio of 265bhp per ton (0.265bhp per kilo) give or take 10% (i.e. 239-291bhp per ton) ... not sure how many otehr two seater cars will be able to meet those figures ... but ... imho ... anything that can meet those figures will be the closest thing to an R8.

The M6 is Front-engined, RWD isn't it?
Unlikely that it will be seen as competition for the R8. They're in a similar price bracket, but then so is a Studio Flat.
Right... and your mom looks like Cindy Crawford!
