Well it depends. I love the Elise sc for being different and it is faster than my v8 r8 from 0-100 but now I want the new exige v6... I feel we all want power but the different driving characteristics of the Elise is loads of fun and is more than satisfying till I get my hands on the new exige :-)

It would make a pretty fun weekend car though, I assume, given its slightly more "raw" nature, but I'm just wondering if there's a point in getting a Gallardo Superleggera (not the 570) when its performance is actually no better than an R8 V10's in the first place. Sure, it's louder, but my Tubi will be installed very soon, so that's a moot point.

If you were looking for a weekend car to park alongside the R8, what would it be? Superleggera? GT3? Scuderia, if budget allows? Or would you get something like a Lotus, or maybe a Cayman R?
    David,

I see from your past cars, you are a fan of the NSX. One of my cars is currently a 500 HP 1999 NSX with low miles. It has a high boost Comptech super charger, full Comptech and RM exhaust, KWV3 fully adjustable suspension and much more. It is in perfect shape in every way. With 500 HP, one of the best suspensions possible and a huge brake kit, it makes the NSX the car it should have always been. This would be a great weekend car for you. It can eat up every other car listed in this entire thread on the track. It may not have the raw HP that some of the 600+ cars have, but it can maintain the speed in the turns. It is so easy to drive, but is a real rocketship. I am looking to trade or sell it to get a V8 R8. I have quite a few cars and would like to get a car that my wife can enjoy too. This NSX is great, but has a Comptech Progrip 2 racing clutch to handle all the power. I am also looking at the R8 for all the bells and whistles. I am sure this is what appeals to you guys using the R8 as a daily driver. This NSX is a perfect weekend car. You are not too far from me in Seattle, why don't you come down and take a test drive? See my post on this car:

Looking to trade a SC NSX for an R8

Please let me know if you have any interest. Thanks,

    Jacob

Thanks, Jacob, but I probably don't want to go back in time to relive my NSX days. Now a Q7 on the other hand...

    Just kidding.

But you've inspired me to post up a picture of my last NSX's engine here just by rekindling some old memories with your post.

My preference is to look forward and never look back. That way, I can say, "oh, I used to have one of those", whenever I see a car on the road that I used to have an example of.

So if the R8 is a coupe, in order to be "different" with the weekend car, will practically any convertible do?

    David,

Well understood, but just to let you know how special this car is:

    IMG_0713 (2).jpg

This would look great next to your R8 and I think it is not a step backward. Especially the way this car pulls, given the power to weight ratio, it will lay down 0-60 time in the mid three sec. Think about it again. You would not recognize this car compared to your previous NSX's.

i too use the v10 as a DD and you just get too used to it.

i've gone down the opposite path and took in a 991 c2s cabriolet as a DD, and am going to raw up the R8 v10 (basically a big diet plan with light engine+exos mod) for a weekend fun drive.

Basically it's easier to find a different DD (and much cheaper may I add).
