Thanks for the advice. My SUV is the minivan at this point. No sliding doors of course, but the seats are waterproof for swimming/barf/beach stuff, and it already acts as an awesome changing station in the back. Plus I can still do some serious off roading with it, and it will be coming in handy when I go camping and fishing with my little guy. If anyone is looking for a really useful SUV, check into the Toyota 4Runner Trail Edition. So awesome!

We traded the R8 today. I got a ticket on the way over, but the cop let me off with just a fix it, and no speed violation, as I told him it was my last run before getting rid of it. Wow! Never had that happen.

It was a bittersweet moment, but the A8 has massaging seats, wifi for watching netflix, automatic everything... It's really plush, and I think it'll be nice to go around town as a family in that car. I know it's not as practical as a minivan, but the SUV is our really practical car. I'll be back for a next gen R8, or an F car before you know it!

Congratulations. What colour did you get for the A8? Post up some pictures!

Thanks! It's phantom black with beige interior. Really warm and inviting. I've already contacted ADV1 about new wheels. I'm planning to lower the car just a bit and give it a fresh look. I'll get some pictures up asap!

I know I am a bit late to post in this thread. It is interesting that no one suggested a Q7. This is the best child hauler vehicle ever. I bought my wife a 4.2 premium with all options including adaptive air suspension. It has the familiar Audi set up and it is like coming home to your living room every time you drive it. It is comfortable and surprisingly has the lightest steering of any other car I have ever driven. Most importantly it is safe, it is one of the safest cars made. This is the best mini-van ever, especially as it is not a mini-van and still has a great sounding V8. This is probably the best car purchase I have ever made. The rear even comes down at the push of a button to make it easier to load in groceries. An A8 is a nice choice, but the Q7 is by far better. You can even pick up a 2008-2009 for 30-40k. This was the best choice for me (two kids with a nanny). And since you have 7 proper seats, you can even bring the mother-in-law along plus one more. You should test drive it and give it a try.

I've had this dilemma for ages. Merc GL, BMW X5, Q7 and Land Rover Disco 4 all have 7 seats. Best driving is the X5 by a distance. Roomiest in the Merc GL. Probably the best laid interior is the Land Rover Disco. Super comfortable too. Very popular with mums at my kid's school. Then there is the Q7. I think it combines a bit of the X5 and a bit of the Disco, and hence is a very nice in between. Surely it will be changed soon though.

    The exact reason I wouldn't get a seven-seater... EVER...

Was Range Rover (NOT Sport) considered? Still my favorite hauler and drive of the lot. My sister has three little ones and a Supercharged and they love it. Drove the A8L as a loaner recently. It was nice.

Well, all he said was that the Land Rover has the best interior for getting laid in.

Edit: Doh! My mistake, the "best laid interior...."

Actually going to spec my new Rover tonight. Very excited. I do love me a Range Rover.

Sport interior doesn't compare to the real deal and the Evoque shouldn't be carrying the Range Rover name IMO.
