    Living with the R8

I have done approaching 2000 miles now, It is without doubt the most forgiving and capable car I have owned, at speed it just gives so much confidence.

Slightly concerned at a few stone chips picked up already, but what do you do? Not drive it!

I have found the boot space is quite enough for a week away, with one of those hand luggage type suitcases fitting in very nicely at the front.

One thing as a warning to others, I noticed some scratches on the lovely gear lever, I blamed my girlfriend for when she drove it maybe her ring had scratched it, but no the reason is when in 4th or 6th as you reach over to adjust Tel,Radio or sat nav my watch was catching it causing some scratching!

The wheels, what a nightmare to keep clean!!

Inside the engine bay - the same.

As a driving experience, just fantastic. I am happy to use the full rev range now and boy does it go!

Went to get some touch up paint - Not available yet!! seems nobody thought of that one, Ice silver is a new colour?

Getting an average of 17.5 mpg covering all sorts of driving conditions from 170mph to pottering.

Oh another thing, I was not concentrating whilst refuelling, when I did I was shocked to see a huge pool of petrol spreading out at my feet as it was going straight down the overfill, obviously directly under a very hot engine and exhaust system - so make sure the pipe is in properly boys! I very nearly had a heart attack, the first R8 up in flames!!

Good to hear you're enjoying it...

It wouldn't have been the first R8 up in flames, though... the V10 Test Mule burnt to a cinder at the 'Ring.

Thanks for the fueling tip as I am sometimes spaceouted when fueling because there is nothing to do.

Does the engine like to rev and does it rev quickly? At what rpm do you feel the most power?

I Noticed stonechips also I'll repaint the front after a year or so.

I wear my watch on my left arm

Wheels and bay: indeed a nightmare to clean! (see my other post)

Problem with refuelling: I had the same, but I noticed it straight away! So be careful

It sure likes to rev. The car is fast in the whole range, but it's getting serious from 4800prm, powerpeak at 7000rpm I think.

I will see if i can organise a group buy at paintshield if you like, i know Tom well i used to use armourfend but found paintshield much better, they already have full drawings for setups done for the R8 as they did the cars at the vegas launch

Front bumper and bonnet. I think it will be a problem because the car is so low! We'll see.
