I would think so.
Is there solid evidence that the '12s really put out more power? As in two stock cars on the same dyno, same day, same procedures? Comparing two different cars on different dynos done at different times introduces a lot of variability. I've seen a smattering of circumstantial evidence, but itching definitive.
What makes me skeptical is why would Audi add as much as maybe 25-40 horsepower, and not claim it? And beyond that - wouldn't performance tests also start showing noticeable improvements? Is there evidence of tests in '12 models that had statistically significant differences in acceleration times?
And further, why would people with Stasis tunes be able to notice any improvement?

Making me want my GT faster!! (and then Dyno it) ...just put the deposit down at my dealer tonight to get one thats barely used shipped to me...hope to have it next weekend after many many years of wanting an R8. None of this surprises me though. The RS6s were all over the place in power from one car to another. Glad I had a fast one for years...it dyno'd stock at 395 at the wheels maling it certainly more than the 450 suggested by Audi. Need to get my RS5 dyno'd to see where it really is at.

Heffner got 495 at the wheels with a 2012 spyder that just had exhaust on it. Maybe it is just the 12 sypders... I have no clue.
Somehow I suspect we might be seeing more Dyno variables and conditions rather than model years.
Duhawk has shown the influence that heat and humidity has on these engines which can alter performance markedly.
Also there will always be on occasions a odd engine that is just better out of the box than others.
I don,t see any commercial advantage for Audi to up the engines performance substantially without advertising that advantage to consumers(so as to sell more)
I have been proven wrong before..so I will apologize now just in case.
As others have posted..we need that back to back comparison on stock models, same dyno, same conditions.
