Who purchased his R8 online and had it delivered?

I have never done any car purchase without seeing the car in person first, and was wondering if anyone would want to share his/her experience with purchasing online (Ebay, private seller, carguru, etc) and had his/her R8 delivered.

I am currently interested in getting a 2010 V10 coupe in white or red, or maybe Daytona gray. There appears to be so many black R8's out there, I wonder why?


Inputs or comments are appreciated.

I purchased my 2010 V10 two years ago sight unseen. It was from the original selling dealer.

Nock on wood no problems as of yet.

I do want to verify that I don't have stress cracks but it will be next spring when the snow is gone before I can do that.

Brought a few cars that way I'd only buy from trusted dealers. I seen one pic of the spyder and was emailed the spec list+ condition report. I trust the dealer this is our 4th car off same dealer. I will only know if its any good when I get back and I highly doubt there will be a mark on it except for a tiny mark on the driver door card. They told me the coupe had a chip on the hood I still couldn't see it 6 months later

If you find a car you like you could always fly to its location check it over, get a report done. flights are cheap can always take the other half and make a weekend of it

Thanks for the replies guys. How did you pay for the cars? Money wired? If I found a car I really want and if it's within driving distance I would drive the car back. But there shouldn't be much concern for shipping, right?

I wired money and then flew down and drove car back.

It was a one day drive of 650 miles.

Great way to enjoy the car btw.

Yeah wired them the remaining to change they picked my old car up. I got a week(or ten days) long drive in all conditions hopefully inc snow driving with the roof down

NY->AR->AZ->ID 3500 miles will break her in nicely

Saw the R8 on Autoguide and Audiusa.com. Audi dealer in San Jose. I was living in Phoenix at the time. Did the deal on the phone. asked for his best price with extended warranty. He trusted me to show up and I trusted him not to sell the car out from under me. Flew in, car was exactly as described. Drove home two days later. Driving it back lets you really appreciate what Audi did with this car. Great on the track, as a daily driver and for trips. Four months later moved to San Jose and got to drive the car back!

I recently took delivery of my R8 GT from a dealer in Chicago. I spotted the vehicle on ebay, but the listing ended before my decision was made. I contacted the dealer directly, negotiated by email, phone, then closed via texting (my first car dealing via texting, pretty cool ;-).

I had a local Audi dealer to perform the pre-sale inspection. I then flew to Chicago to do visual inspection & test drive, signed all documents, then handed the dealer the cashier check. The vehicle was loaded into an enclosed trailer heading to Houston the same moment I left for the airport from the dealer. The vehicle was at my door 2 days later. It's a pre-owned vehicle, but virtually new, with less than 200 miles on the clock.

The GM picked me up & dropped me off the airport. A one day trip, and I was home before dinner. Fairly painless process for me.

Just bought mine sight unseen from motocars of Georgia, not problem at all, felt pretty confident that if a Aston Lamborghini dealer says it is clean it would be clean.
