V10 to be killed off?

I was talking to one of the brand mangers at Audi and he metioned the new RS6 will not get a V10 engine this time round.
Instead, it will be a V8 570bhp 4.0 turbo (think he said twin turbo, but could be wrong).

Does this spell the end for the V10?
Thoughts, comments?

Remember the M6? Same thing happened with BMW with their new models. I think it's inevitable like the old Packard and Cadillac V-12's of the 30's

A lot of manufacturers are switching to smaller turboed engined cars to get around emissions.

For all the love I have for the V10..I would race to get a V8 Twin Turbo R8

Much better torque..More Performance enhancement potential...Potentially lighter..and a V8 exhaust note with the right exhaust is hard to beat.

Transmission would be the harder choice if a manual was still available.???

My CLS550 has a turbo eight and its torque surge is lots of fun. I'm up for anything that makes the ride more enjoyable.

I'm more concerned that they will kill off the R8 entirely. Audi has become a juggernaut in luxury auto sales. Do they really need a low volume "halo" two seater any more?

I hope they keep the V10, I've had years of driving Porsche Turbos and even a Ruf Turbo and there is nothing as useable as NA power.

I honestly wouldnt mind if they mothballed the R8 entirely. it would just make my car that much more rare and therefore cooler IMHO
