Evo mag have always said and continue to say that the V8 is the better of the R8 models
I loved and I mean loved my R8 V8 over the 2 years of ownership.
I think the article describes it strengths very well.
What I found though is when you own the V8 over a longer period of time(which no journalist does) you look to improve its engine performance and you just can,t get that much more.
V10 is the medicine.

Balanced car has anyone else had both v8 and v10 and found this themselves?
Yes I had both.
At my level of driving I am hard pressed to tell a difference.
Maybe saving a far amount of weight with a aftermarket exhaust has restored some balance that they talk about.
General consensus on the board from my recollection is not noticeable unless you are at 10/10ths on a track.
Any possible disadvantage is far outweighed by the going straight to jail V10 performance.

A friend in the IOM has had both, he reckons he prefered the V8, to be honest, I have never driven both so I can only listen to various opinions
