Extended Platinum Warranty Question - Get it?

Wondering if anyone here has opted for the extended warranty through Audi. I am considering the Platinum warranty (7 years/70K miles) for about $2,500. My car has 2 years left on the manufacturing warranty with about 1,400 miles on the car. I expect to keep the car for at least 4-5 years more and my R8 will remain with low miles. As I think about "re-sale" value in the 4-5 years+, I think the warranty would be a great asset to the car and peace of mind for the new owner. This warranty would make my car covered until year 2020.

Any thoughts from the members about it? It sounds like $2,500 cost is a no-brainer. However, I thought I would get your perspective on this and the quality of this platinum warranty.

The co-pay is $100. The exclusion list is mostly "wear and tear" items like brake linings, pads, drums and rotors. Also batteries, wheels, glass, etc. Most of the main components are all covered for the duration of the warranty. The platinum is their "highest" level warranty available.

$2500 is a very good deal, go for it. I paid $3700 for the same coverage when I bought my car back in 2011.

It's like insurance. Do you carry the bare minimum that is required, or do you carry more coverage. I chose the extended coverage and paid a similar price. It seemed like cheap price to pay given the amount of electronics and that everything is packed in there pretty tight!

However, if you're only driving 700 miles a year...... it may not be worth it.

Azcarate, I'm curious where (which dealer?) you got this price of $2,500 for the 7/70K Platinum, since the regular price is $3,300 (with refund if not used), and $3,000 if no refund option????

The dealer and I worked out a great transaction, where I was pretty happy, and they were relieved of an aged inventory R8, (The poor thing spent it's first birthday in the showroom with a bunch of stuffy sedan's.) As part of the package we negotiated a $2400/100 deductible, platinum esc pkg. (If you've ever been in sales, you'll know, it is a moving target to get a real bottom line number..... unless it's an all cash deal and no trade.)

So this extended warranty is just same as the factory warranty right?
My warranty ends August of this year but my audicare expires 2014...
What do you guys think? I'm thinking of buying extended warranty with maybe no copay and also audicare if its possible? I drive around 4000-5000miles/year.....

Ps: clutch, transmission aren't covered right?
