A little worried about this with Daytona. May not be dark enough. Does it really look like matt black?
I prefer the blacked out rear and front grill. Those photos make it look like some sort of an American car
I was going to mention, in reply to Calbenzo, that the rear fascia would, imho, look just as good or better in matte black with matte/powder black rims. The same could be true for Daytona (or newly-named) Gray.
But, this big pic of the rear of the auto show car is the most revealing of the rear fascia color.

So it seems the regular V10 (not plus) will keep the same glossy black front and rear grilles correct?
While the plus will have this matte grey/silver grilles?

minor facelift on a 6 year old design - hope audi dont get too Porsche lazy on design. Changes for changes sake? I don't think any of the tweaks really add anything or maybe Ive just been an R8 owner for too long now?
True enough. With regard to the front grille ...
The discussion in the thread "Detroit Auto Show" included comments about the '14 R8's new front grillle with off-hand remarks like "no bracket," yet some subtle design changes to the new R8 appear to follow (some of) the same theme as seen in the new A8 front grille, as noted by a R8talk member/'13 A8 owner.
Example: the horizontal grille pieces of both new cars - A8 and R8 - are now fully visible at the leading edge, instead of being covered by a bracket, or, more precisely, "strips."

Whether or not one's newest A8/R8-model happens to be required to display a front plate, and whether or not its owned in North America, South America, or the UK or greater EU, (not to mention Asia) determines the front "look," to be sure. But the clean lines of an unlicensed, uncluttered new front grille seem to dominate the new "look." 'Just my view.![]()
