Audi has listened to criticisms of the R8. By including more equipment as standard and replacing the clunky R tronic gearbox, the company has come close to perfection with the R8. Even this convertible – normally the less thrilling version – is very sharp. And its abilities really come into focus when you realise how usable and comfortable it is."

The performance is not what it once was and the newer cars not only out perform the R8, they have a better sound (like the RS7).

Its just starting to feel 'tired' as a package.
I'm one of those guys that gets the itch every year for the next best thing. It typically happens when it's cold and dark in the winter - need a "pick me up" and that has often translated into a new car (I know, personality disorder). My V10 MT spyder is the first car I have owned that keeps me from jumping ship. I'm just as excited as the first day I picked it up - can't wait for the warm March the weather channel has promised us.

"Tired" as a package? Not here, not to me, but each to their own. BTW, I went back and test drove a PDK 991 again. That car would definitely be a "one-yearer" for me - still feels like a sedan wrapped in a 911 body to me. I think the new boxster is a far more exciting car.

    Re: 2014 R8: Who's Getting One?

Just placed my order today, with a binding discount off MSRP, for a 2014 R8 V10 Coupe, S-tronic, Ibis White, Carbon fiber sideblades and inlays, full black leather package, and CERAMIC BRAKE package. I will be offering my current 2011 R8 V10 for private sale.

I am so looking forward to putting a STaSIS supercharger on the S-Tronic. With that I think I'll be able to hang with McLarens and Aventadors.
2011 R8 5.2 FSI, R-Tronic, Coupe, Ibis White, Carbon fiber sideblade, O.Z. Ultraleggera racing wheels, APR 93 ECU tune, K&N Intake filters, approximately 600hp.

2012 Tesla Model S Signature Performance #905, Pearl White, 19" wheels, white leather, obeche matte, possible dilithium crystals.
On Order: 2014 R8 5.2, S-Tronic, Ceramic brakes, Coupe, Ibis White , Carbon fiber, STaSIS supercharger

That will be awesome. I think with the DCT and the SC you will be a lot faster than those two cars....

    Congrads on the order!

Thanks. I was just becoming way too jealous of your twin turbo project, so I obviously had to do something right away.

I think the S tropic r8 is going to be a lot faster than people think. With a SC it will be a site to see.

Congrats! I've asked 2 local dealerships in So California and both said they would not discount off MSRP!

^^^I have placed an order into the Audi system (although no pricing is yet available), after reaching a reasonable market value for my trade in, for a 2014 R8 V10 Spyder. Every local Audi dealer and several out of state ones all offered SOME discount off MSRP. Not much though.

Is it not the case that the new generation R8 will be released sometime 2014/15. Not sure I would be interested in a twilight model of the current generation when the new one is around the corner.

    Re: 2014 R8: Who's Getting One?

See my thread further down the page - i updated it with some additional info from audi that the new model will not be changing much at all. So id expect the next version to only have small facelift type changes too.
