2010 4.2 MT, Daytona Gray/Oxygen over Tuscan
It can be disabled/activated yes.
When I flashed my ECU for Ceramic brakes I lost the feature, popped car into Audi and they "ticked the box" again.
What suprised me was that Audi charge for this feature on a new car but all have the ability to do it.. or not.
R8 V10 Coupe, R-Tronic in Ibis White - ALL the CF, Heffner Performance TT.
I searched many many places in the coding with my Vag-Com tools, but never found anything about enabling/disabling this annoying feature...
There are a few threads on this forum and on others too about this.

Agree... Don't like the Hill Hold Assist either. I let the clutch out and the car's emer. brakes are still engaged (Hill Hold Assist)
and I don't go.... have stalled the car a couple times now. Here I sit with the clutch engaged and the brake on... must
wear out the clutch faster this way too...
I happen to like in Summit County and as the name suggests we have many hills around here.
I don't need no stinking electronic nanny keeping me from rolling backwards in a MT car.... come on ! (:-)
Tried looking for the coding in vcds this weekend for my TTRS but no dice so far. Must be there somewhere though.
I've asked my dealer a couple of times, and they couldn't find a way to turn it off.
I absolutely hate it. Especially that its nearly impossible to predict when it will let off.

I'll get the answer and report back as 100% had mine reinstated !! (RT and steep slopes/hills is where it makes sense)

It is a great idea in the first place. BUT...
Had it on Porsches and BMWs, but this one implemented in the R8 is not well programmed.
It holds too much and too late. You have to give it a bit more throttle not to have the engine stall, but when it finally lets go, this "more throttle" gives the car quite a bit of push (too many HPs...). So you have to let go the throttle a bit exactly when the HHA lets go. It's not easy to modulate!!

The trick with the hill assist on the R8 is to only apply enough brake pressure to hold the car on the slope. Don't mash your brake down and then it won't hold the car so hard.
The hill assist feature does not use the emergency brake it uses the normal brakes and just prevents the back flow of pressure through the ABS system. If you are looking to deactivate it, you need to go in to your brake control module.
