    Recommendations for anti-ticket countermeasures?

Hey folks, does anybody have any recommendations or opinions on radar/laser detectors/jammers and other anti-ticket countermeasures like VEIL? The 9500ci keeps popping up as I read online.

Note: I'm in CA, where laser jamming is illegal — http://www.guysoflidar.com/californi...mmer-laws.html

I'd also love to hear any experience from local CAers with the law about their anti-ticket countermeasures. I've heard on the grapevine that CHP are actively looking for folks with jammers and confiscating vehicles!

True. Saving the speeding for the track is all fine n dandy n'all, but its just so hard to keep off the throttle when the R8 does everything so smoothly and safely. Highway exits can be taken at way higher than the recommended limits.

Mine came with a built in K40 front and rear radar/laser detector/jammer, so makes me "slightly" less anxious when I occasionally get a lil heavy on the throttle.

If I had a choice though, the Escort built-in systems are the best I hear.

I had the K40 installed on my M3 last week (I don't drive the R8 enough to warrant it). I was told that it worked better because it has forward and rear detection, which the Escort didn't have. I hope it is a solid system, as I'm driving like it works.

Has anyone had trouble with law enforcement with the laser jammers? I'm referring to the states that don't outlaw such.

just wondering...why would people care if they are illegal if they are using them to try to circumvent the law in the first place? lol I mean, wouldnt you just get one anyway and be really creative with the install by camoflaging it? I would.

I'm using an Escort Redline with the Escort Live app running on my phone and connected via bluetooth to the Redline. Seems to work well so far. My Aston had a Bel STiR Plus (basically the same as the 9500ci and had a Laser Interceptor HP system installed. Also worked well.

The 9500ci has a front-mounted radar receiver BUT front and rear laser receivers/shifters. If Law Enforcement targets you from the rear, it will be picked up almost instantaneously by the front radar receiver as radar/laser signals bounce back after hitting anything in front of you (e.g. highway signage, trees, etc). And the rear mounted laser receiver will 'shift' the rear signal from his laser gun. So for all practical purposes, you are covered from both front & rear!

I had this system installed on my 2007 997S and it worked as advertised!

I have the 9500ix with Escort Live cable and love it! It syncs with my iphone and based on what other people are reporting maps the cops on a google map app. I drive from Los Angeles to Las Vegas fairly frequently and this thing has saved me numerous times from plotting cops. It also notifies you if you're going over the speed limit (you can change the setting for it not to). My favorite feature however is that over time it recognizes false signals and deletes them from the device. When Ka band pops up I immediately slow down even though the cop could be a mile out or more. It has also saved me from a laser when driving around town. I highly recommend this device!

In my experience, there is not a whole lot of advantage having a rear facing unit. Rear facing units also tend to pickup a lot of false alarms on K band. I have the Beltronics STi-R Plus i my new S7 and love how it performs relative to the K40 that's in my R8. The K40 was given to me at cost by the dealer for something they messed up, so it was too hard to turn down. A custom installed unit requires a decent amount of man hours to install properly. So unless you plan on DIY, an install will cost a pretty penny.

I have a separate Laser Interceptor jammer setup in both cars, it works great for laser shots. I can't advise you what to do in CA, but a police officer will likely be able to tell you have a laser jammer even if you camouflage it. Think about it this way, he will get readings for other cars but not yours. He will also notice you laying on the brakes until you magically are traveling the speed limit! All that being said, I'd still probably run a jammer setup though
