R-tronic or manual??

I know there is a few threads with this being debated but I could not find one dedicated to this.
From what I have read many of you who have alreadyr recieved your car were in the same dillema I am in...I cant decide what I want!
I would like to start a poll (but am not an admin) so please give owners of the manual and r tronics state your case!

I have ordered manual but think I may change...anyway any views will be much appreciated. Cheers!

Going to the track frequently? Buy R-Tronic.
Do you want to shift fast and very easy? Buy R-Tronic.
Want to win always at the traffic lights? Buy R-Tronic.

its not that I care what others think...I just wanted some owners opinions.

I will be doing a lot of city driving and am prob not gonna go to the track that often so I guess I should stick with the manual!

If you do a lot of city driving, wouldn't the r-tronic make more sense?

I agree with Jimmyz. You need R-tronic in city ride...especially during the rush hours!!!

some people i know are getting their R-tronic thought it is DSG. but it's not. i went with 6-speed knowing it'll be more fun & involved to drive. granted it will not be my only car so 6-speed all the way! not to mention i save 10k & the shift gate looks sexier.

I've driven both and the manual is the way to go. I get mine on Jan 14th.

My dad, being in his 50s, went for R-Tronic... oh well. I would have gotten the 6 speed. At least the R-Tronic is a good gearbox, unlike Porsche's tiptronic.

Hi Phantom, here are my thoughts on your dilema. Having driven both R tronic and manual cars back to back at the Audi driving day at Rockingham, I must say I really enjoyed R tronic, despite my prejudices due to the bad press. My only issues were the slightly sluggish upshift and the fact that the stick shift was "pullback" to change down and "fwd" for up, as I thought it should be the other way round. I liked the auto "blip" on downshift. Didn't get a chance in traffic only on circuit,so can't comment on road use, but was pleasantly surprised after the very negative press reviews.
Manual box is a dream. I thought it was very easy to use with no missed shifts on circuit, which was a good sign, in an unfamiliar car. I don't think you can go far wrong with either. If your worry was the negative press reviews, then I would disregard them. I think the critics were desperate to find fault in something and the R tronic was the victim because it was not as slick as the DSG. It was still great fun tho' IMHO. It is a tough choice, down to personal choice really. I think the point is that both are excellent, despite what journalists said.
