Questions about buying / selling high mile R8

    Hello,

Just wondering how the first gen (2008-2009) does with 70k+ miles?

Will it last a while (to 100-150k miles)?

What should the price range be when looking at buying one with 70k+ miles?

If I wanted to sell in a few years over the 100k miles mark, would it be able to sell? What would I expect to have to sell it at?

    Thanks!

I've yet to see one with that many miles. My guess is mid- to low-50s, maybe lower depending on the condition. What you save in outlay to buy the car will be significantly offset by maintenance costs, regardless whether you pay cash or finance them through an after-market warranty.

Personally, I'd shop for a lower miles car.

Definitely agree and understand about losing money. I'm going to finance it, so if I decide to sell I just don't want to get burnt on the remainder of the loan.

From a mechanical standpoint there should be no problem with a well maintained R8 turning 100-150k miles. Getting someone to buy a 100,000 mile R8 or that matter ANY triple K mile high-end sports car may be difficult. If you are going to finance the car, it’s very conceivable that you could easily be up-side down on the deal.

If you don't get much lower price I should avoid it but I do believe from mechanical point shoul not be bigger issues than for instance a 50k

I've only seen one with 68K miles advertised for $67K. It sold a couple months back.
I've never seen a clean R8 (regardless of miles) sell in the $50's in the US (not talking about auction sites in which retail buyer has no access).

The car in the link has been for sale for at least 4 months to my knowledge. Looks to be a fair spec and is certainly competitively priced, but there doesn't appear to be any takers.

I would strongly advise against the OP buying any car from MotorHub. Whilst I haven't purchased from them there are many horror stories on forums about their dubious practices, and I've been told by other reputable traders to stay well away. Lots of nice cars in stock and good prices, but don't get drawn in

Good advice and I'm sure the OP would be grateful was he not from New York.
