If this thread totally goes off topic, I'm blaming him.

Is it worth converting this thread in to an actual poll or creating a new thread if you can convert? We can then cast votes and the results are presented in a much clearer format without having to read everyone's reply?

Also should the actual poll be manual, R-tronic and S-tronic because I think many (me included) would never consider the semi auto R-tronic over a manual but would consider a dual clutch S-tronic if we could afford it!

Good suggestion. Can admin convert this thread to a poll midway?

How to factor age to transmission preference?

60 and always a manual in this type of car.

It might be interesting to note I do have a daily driver that's an "auto" for around town driving as I completely agree that if burdened with city or in town driving I would find using a stick a bit tedious. But when driving a car like the R8 on open country roads or on a track I feel there's nothing like heel and toeing and clutching while mastering the perfect gear change for a sweeping right or left corner and hearing the clickity click of the gated shifter.

    Now, where's my keys!

Manual, 32, nothing else would suffice. My daily is also manual. Wife drives an autotragic.

41 and Auto, but I use my car as a DD.
If it was a weekend type of car or for tracking, then manual all the way..
Got to be honest with myself, a true and pure sport car should have a stick. IMHO
